Art In The Margins Mini-Exhibit a Success!

Over two dozen visitors, many thoughtful comments in the guest book.  And the exhibit space was perfect (Evansville Vanderburgh Library McCullough Branch meeting room).  Thanks to so many folks, including Eleanor at the library, O for his music, art and muscle (he helped move all the easels, twice, in 24 hours), as well as the homeless shelter artists @ Art in the Annex that made this exhibit possible.

A female shelter guest walked into the Annex with a T-shirt, said she wanted to make an artwork based on it — and all I had to do was stand by and watch her, along with another talented Art in the Annex participant, take charge and create.

Please get the word out about the “mini-exhibit” of artworks by the shelter guests I work with at United Caring Services Annex, at the Evansville McCullough Library on June 28 from 1-3:30 p.m.  Thanks!

Yes, there IS money out there…

My official grantee notification “badge” by The Pollination Project

After many labors — including years of attempting to secure individual artist grants in the state in which I live, and many voices (including my own!) telling me there is no money available for arts empowering marginal populations — I have been able to secure a seed grant from The Pollination Project.  This generous grant will make possible an art exhibition of works by the homeless, formerly homeless, and victims of domestic violence to whom I have been devoting many volunteer hours since November of 2013, scheduled for July  2014 at the Southwestern Indiana Arts Council gallery in downtown Evansville.
