Over two dozen visitors, many thoughtful comments in the guest book. And the exhibit space was perfect (Evansville Vanderburgh Library McCullough Branch meeting room). Thanks to so many folks, including Eleanor at the library, O for his music, art and muscle (he helped move all the easels, twice, in 24 hours), as well as the homeless shelter artists @ Art in the Annex that made this exhibit possible.
A female shelter guest walked into the Annex with a T-shirt, said she wanted to make an artwork based on it — and all I had to do was stand by and watch her, along with another talented Art in the Annex participant, take charge and create.
Two shelter guests, working hard on 6/11 to complete a banner and artwork we hope to finish for the Art In The Margins mini-exhibit on 6/28/14, 1-3:30 p.m. at the McCullough Library.
Please get the word out about the “mini-exhibit” of artworks by the shelter guests I work with at United Caring Services Annex, at the Evansville McCullough Library on June 28 from 1-3:30 p.m. Thanks!
I recently added a project to ArtSpeak — a blog for and by (hopefully) the underserved populations I work with at United Caring Services. Based on my success attracting homeless writers and artists to author the blog, I hope to expand Notes From The Margins to additional homeless and other shelters in the area.
