Saw several versions of love at the shelters this week.  On Tuesday, stressed women at the YWCA, who eventually and joyfully settled in to embellish almost a dozen t-shirts with empowering words and symbols. And Monday, a bookshelf at Art in the Annex, United Caring Services.

Art In The Margins Mini-Exhibit a Success!

Over two dozen visitors, many thoughtful comments in the guest book.  And the exhibit space was perfect (Evansville Vanderburgh Library McCullough Branch meeting room).  Thanks to so many folks, including Eleanor at the library, O for his music, art and muscle (he helped move all the easels, twice, in 24 hours), as well as the homeless shelter artists @ Art in the Annex that made this exhibit possible.

A female shelter guest walked into the Annex with a T-shirt, said she wanted to make an artwork based on it — and all I had to do was stand by and watch her, along with another talented Art in the Annex participant, take charge and create.
